Yes, I feel silly when I wear one of these too. However, I find it much easier to observe without the involuntary squint that I do when I close one eye and observe with the other. I located some silk (synthetic) pirate eyepatches and they work fine for blocking the input from the eye not being used. You can one on my website duchekconsult.com for $3 (includes US shipping)
