Description: This Takahashi 8” f/4 Astrograph has performance similar to a much more expensive ASA astrograph, and is also a fabulous 8” visual telescope. This is your chance for both! It is an Epsilon 200, a 200 mm aperture (8”) f/4 Newtonian system (serial number 7027) consisting of a hyperbolic primary mirror with 63 mm secondary, and 4 element corrector within the rack-and-pinion focuser giving a highly corrected, flat-field 56 mm image circle. This image circle is larger than other comparable astrographs and the backfocus is greater than the Epsilon 180. Besides a great astrograph with 800 mm focal length for better image scale than the Epsilon 180, it is an incredible 8” f/4 visual telescope with pinpoint stars to the edge of the field, even with a 20 mm Nagler. I purchased the telescope new and all components are Takahashi. The OTA includes the Tak 7x50 finder, collimation eyepiece with 0.965 eyepiece holder and adapter ring, and wide-mount camera adapter for use with 35mm cameras (requires wide-mount T-ring for your specific camera whether film or Digital SLR), and 1.25” eyepiece holder. A custom 2” adapter allows use of 2” eyepieces (able to use a 20 mm Nagler for 40x magnification, giving a 2 degree field!). The original Takahashi instruction booklet and warranty/serial number certificate are provided. Included too is the dark green Takahashi tube stop/rotator. The focuser has lockable field rotator and focus lock. Included is the optional Takahashi 10:1 micro-focuser and Takahashi tube rings. Distance from focus plane to corrector is specified as 59.8mm (termed metal-back distance.).

The astrograph is great too with astronomical CCD cameras (such as SBIG with off axis guiding), and adapters are available from Takahashi and other sources. A review of the Epsilon 200 can be found on scopereviews. Coatings and optics are in great condition. E-200 has always been stored inside, and only a few paint chips on the tube.

Takahashi Specifications for OTA:

I’ve upgraded to a much larger aperture and no longer require this astrograph/visual telescope, and have finally decided to part with it. For PayPal, add 3%. Buyer pays shipping.
