Default 152F/7 Quadruplet Air space

This is the 152F/7 all new air-space lense, this is the same with Astreya's 130F/7 with simular history. They are design and made by Astreya's Master optical designer, Andrey Strakhov.

Talking Re: 152F/7 Quadruplet Air space

Nice, Jim! I just took delivery of an A&M 152/7 with the new cooling system and the new air-spaced lens. Can't wait to get it under the stars!

Regards,
Marty

Marty,

That's sweet. How do you like baffels? Gino did a real nice job with that design. The AM scopes look so good I would have a glass case in my living room to store it. We need pictures from box to mount.

Thumbs up Re: 152F/7 Quadruplet Air space

Hey, Marty,

You slipped this post in when I wasn't looking! Any images of the new scope yet? Have you had good weather to try it out? Saturn beckons!

The extended spectral correction of the optics in this scope make it well suited to imaging. Are you an imager or a visual user? You've probably already seen this but just in case, here's a little image of M13 taken with my 152 mm f/7 SAPO:

http://www.pbase.com/ghartke/image/50946588/original

This was done with seventeen 8 minute subframes (136 minutes total) using an SXV-M25C.

Hope you're having fun with the new beauty!

Regards,

Greg

Hi Greg,

Your image of M13 was one of the things that convinced me to go for my rig! It is mesmerizing...

I bought my scope primarily to do imaging with. I also bought the A&M 80mm TMB to do guiding and widefield in a piggyback setup.

This is one nose-heavy beast! Balancing is a trick indeed.

We have had some rather miserable weather since I took delivery of the scope, but we did get the chance to get out last friday nite for some visual observing. And you guessed it, Saturn was screaming to be seen!

All I can say is that the image of Saturn thru the 152 will forever be burned into my minds eye! I have never before seen such a 3-D crystalline view. Absolutely, unreal! I had to fight everone off just to get a little time at the eyepiece for myself. We also viewed lots of DSOs and I was flattened by the view of M51, and of course M42 that night.

Needless to say, I am champing at the bit to start imaging, so hopefully, weather permitting, we will be out this weekend capturing photons with my newest and favoriteist toys! Carefully avoiding other astronomers, since this thing tends to attract so much attention!

Images of rig and stuff to come soon!

Regards,
Marty

Hi Marty,

I do mostly visual and projection. The 152F7 SAPO I suggest the T6 Naglers. 5mm- 2.5mm and powermates. The moon pending, I use the 2.5 + 5x powermate max and float around. However, planets most often 2.5mm. I have other naglers to 11mm. I have alot of other eps including some zeiss, taks, and are very good, but I tend to use the T6's most.

Hi Jim,
where do you find information about these apos? Is there an Astreya site, or is all through dealers?
Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary,

Yes there is a Astreya site http://astreya-optics.narod.ru/eng/index.htm

However most info I get is directly from Andrey now. Astreya only is makeing the lenses now, I know they show scopes.(Dealers) AM Astrotech, I contacted Gino and he has 1 152F7 scope left. Astreya has some 130F7 lenses in stock but no 152's. I'm not sure when the next run of 152F/7's will start, maybe more likely late summer.
I also have 2 forums and have my collection of information I collected over the years. I will try to get Andrey to chime in soon. They have a busy shop, so getting things lined up besides time zones can cause issues.

Hi Jim,
thank you. I had seen this site a while back, but couldn't work out how to get back to it. If I did anything it would to just acquire a lens in cell, and build the tube up from there.
