webcam mods

hi all- got a question here on webcam mods- SC1 seems to be the 'basic' LX mod- now the SC1.5 mod has the 'amp-off' switch to it, from what i understand without the amp-off switch exposures over 30 seconds will deteriorate- BUT- if your using this just for guiding say using 5 seconds exposures- does that mean ill be ok with the SC1?- or that guiding after 30 seconds the camera becomes a real video mess?- thx if you can clear this up for me- john
