Meade controllers ?

Hi all ! Can someone tell me the differnce between the Meade #495 and #497 controllers? And also how to tell the differnce between the two ? Thanks in advance! Ryanhouse 2004

Ryan,
The 495 512meg is the grandpappy, 497 1meg also some newer 495's have 1 meg. Older firmware, and soft and may have a problem with newer pannel inside the newer telescope mount itself. You might be able to update the firmware to the 497. I think the problem occurs when attaching a 495 to a 497 scope also needing the 1 meg of memory. I haven't had a meade for a while so do so cheching the update might lock up the 495, best yet call Meade, they have a great support team.
