| I've always enjoyed looking at the occasional double, but never really gave them the systematic attention they deserve. What is a good book for someone who wants to get into doubles? |

| There are several good books for double stars observers. Some are general observing books and others get into specifics about measuring binary systems. I took an inventory of my collection when you posted this question (18 books) and what I would recommend for the beginner would be Joe DalSantos' " A Field Guide to Double Star Observing ". It's inexpensive ($15), has a lot of useful information and provides observing programs for each of the four seasons. It's a good reference to get started with. Here is the website: http://www.fvastro.org/dalsanto/js_double.htm

| In addition, take a look at the web site of The Astronomical league. Look for the Double Star Observer's Club. They have an observer's list of 100 of the more popular doubles there, It might be a nice guide to get you started. Adolph
