Default New to astrophotography

I just picked up a Canon XT in November. Since that time there have been exactly 3 days when I could get out (terrible weather). My results are at:

http://ozastro.dyndns.org/php/astrog...ode=1&offset=0

Here's one of the images...

Taken through a Stellarvue Nighthawk II on a SkyWatcher HEQ5 mount
A stack of 4 unguided 180-247 second images
Stacked and registered with DeepSkyStacker and worked with CS2 and The GIMP

Very nice...this is an incredible image for just starting out.

I'd recommend ImagesPlus for your control, stacking...etc for a cannon....I also use it with my ccd.

Very nice, Ozzzy. I hope you're proud of that effort. A heck of a lot better than the first few I put out <g>.

Thanks,
I can't admit to any skill as all I did was align the scope and open the shutter. But I did have a lot of help from the on-line community on using PhotoShop etc. Now, if I could only get guiding working....

If you do Ozzy, let me know how you did it, I am working on that myself.

Ozzzy.. I hope you don't mind but I did a little work in Photoshop on your image. You have a lot of good data in there!!

Thanks Bud.. I "played" around with the levels and the color data. There is still a little too much red "push" in the image but this was a quick and dirty cleanup to see what I could do with Ozzzy's image.
