Default Hello and new images

Hi all,

I'm new to the group, but some of you know me from other sites

By way of introduction to everyone else, here are a couple of new images - well, not so new to me. They were shot October and November last year, but I've only gotten around to posting them now....

The first is IC405 (the Flaming Star) and IC410 (the one with the "Tadpoles"). 4 hours of H-alpha in 30-minute subs:

Then there's the California Nebula (NGC1499), also in H-alpha (3 hours in 30-minute subs):

Enjoy!

Good to see you Eric.....we're just getting started here, but so far it is a really good group of people.

Nice images...I think the 6303 has to be one of the best Ha cameras around. it really seems to be very sensitive. Does this camera have trouble with blooming?

Eric, did you know that the sponsors here have allowed you a gallery site?...unlimited use and storage, for right now, anyway.

I saw a recent post saying you were running out of gallery space.

best regards,

bud

Hi Phil,

Thanks! I like the sensitivity of the 6303 camera, though I sometimes find myself pining for the size of the 11K's chip.

I'm having that impression, too! With the Astrodon filter, sometimes I feel like my H-alpha data is ready for presentation after a DDP in Maxim! Yes, it blooms, but I grew up with bloomin' cameras, and so far I have yet to have an image wrecked by a bad bloom. And even when that happens, all that I (theoretically) should have to do is shoot a shorter sub and use that data (hopefully with no or a fixed bloom) to smooth out that data. That said, I have not shot the Pleiades yet! It's doable, I just have not worked up the nerve to try it

Eric
