| I captured 22 subs at 180 seconds each at iso 800. I tripped over the cord for my scope about half way through and unplugged it, tried to get the scope back in the same spot to take more images but i guess they didn't line up and DeepSkyStacker would only align 10 out of the 22. I would have took more but the sky clouded over as usual. I think this would have turned out good with a few more subs. It's better than my other attempt at this object though. Processed in PS. By the way, the editor of our local newspaper gave me a visit today, she wanted some info about me and my image of the andromeda galaxy. She also requested this image. She is gonna put it in the next edition. ![]() _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Scope: Meade LX200 10" Classic f/10 Binos: 10x50/20x80 Imagers: Canon Digital Rebel 350D Meade Dsi Olympus C-50 Philips SPC 900NC |

| congrats, Ed, on another very nice image....and for getting the writeup in the newspaper....the hobby can always use good press. It might help to encourage more dark skies. I'm not sure how deep sky tracker works, but ImagesPlus would be able to take the different sets of images and combine them. Not sure if you've seen IP, but it is about the best program for DSLR's. bud

| DeepSkyStacker is a free program. I havent seen ImagesPlus. This hobby can use up a few bucks just equipment alone so i kinda stay with the free programs. I would love to have imagesplus though, it would help with my focusing. I have to take several images and magnify it on my screen to see if i have good focus. Sometimes it takes a while. Thanks for the comment... |

| I tried using CCDTools free version and put in 85% for it to stack out of the 22 subs. With more subs it looks a little better. ![]() |

| Very nice image Ed. I would personally lower the amount of saturation in the image as I believe it would look more natural. Keep the images comin'!!

| Yes i know it's over saturated but once i moved those sliders up on the saturation it was hard to bring them back down lol. Thanks for the comments. How's this? ![]() Last edited by Edsport; 10-19-2007 at 06:40 PM. Reason: Adding a picture... |

| That is a LOT better Ed. The colors are more "natural" [whatever that is] now. Dean Jacobsen www.astrophoto.net W6DBJ |

| Well i couldn't rest till i took another shot at processing and it's not as dull looking as my last image. I think the sharper look is better and less plum color in this version. Did i over do it again? Atleast i'm getting processing practice. ![]() |
