Default B 33 The HorseHead Nebula

Hi Friends,

Wow, the moon is bright......but it seems the only time we get partially clear skies in the North West the moon is full. Lots of high clouds...out of 15hours of exposure I only used about 3 hours. I think a good clear dark night would give a nicer image, but ya gets what ya gets.

This was taken over three different nights with high clouds and full moon..horrible conditions, but I just wanted to try my new "stuff" out.
Scope: Takahashi FRC300
Mount: Paramount ME
Camera: QSI 532ws 6nm Astrodon Ha filter
About 15 hours of exposure with only about three hours of useable frames.
Processed in CCDStack and PSCS2 with Noel's AstroTools

Very nice image, Bud. And, congrat's on the new tools. You'll be "hitting them out of the park" from here on.

Nice image forming up, you picked up the "streamers" in the background of this image very well. Hope to see some less photographed, exotic subjects imaged with that "new stuff".

I'll second the "-----" weather, I caught a few hours on IC410 last week, and it's been a very illuminated moon, wind+low temps, or clouds since then, and looks to be the same for the next week.

thanks Bob, and Robert.......I'm looking forward to the spring time here to give this stuff a real workout.
I've got an automatic focuser from Don Clements on order for the FRC...this should help with focus, and I'm going to mount my Tak E180ED in tandem with the FRC.

thanks for looking,

...so all works fine so far, except focuser.
the electric focuser will bring your future images into perfect shape!
I recall having difficulties in finding the focus manually before I purchased the starlight instr. electric focuser.
it is not the automated one,...but still by reading objective measurements like numbers on the display you can be very precise.
I measured one microstep to be 7 micrometers...and when seeing is really good, you notice 5 microsteps you never yould do free-handed at this focal length!
Bud, you'll love it!
