| I took this the same night as M82. I was just foolin' around while waiting for m82 to move above my house. This is a single exposure of about 3 mins using the digital rebel 350d and a 75mm-300mm lens at full zoom. ![]()

| Hi Ed, This just shows you how nice of a widefield of this area that the camera can take....just needs about another twenty or so exposures, and it would go really deep.

| I'm amazed at how well that camera works, especially in bringing out the red. A couple hour set will really be an exceptional wide field shot. Robert www.galacticphotography.com |

| Thanks guys. My cam is unmodded just incase u wanted to know. I think i'll try a few widefield exposures next time. I think you're right, it should turn out to be a nice pic.

| Ed, That's a nice shot. I am always amazed at how far technology has come since I first became interested in astronomy in the early 1980's. I remember drooling over a Meade DS-10 and a cooled film camera that used dry ice! - Dave |

| Cooled camera manufacturers may need to rethink their business model within the next few years. Another generation of development on DSLRs (in about 3 yrs), and their capability and price point will really tax the credibility of a decision to go with the cooled camera, at least a one shot cooled camera.
