| Has anyone tried the Celestron SkyScout? Looks like it would be a lot of fun, a good way to brush up on the night sky and a great teaching tool.

| I've had one for several months and love it. I recently added the green laser adapter and it's now even better. There are two things I don't care for but they are minor compared to the things I like. First, it consumes batteries faster than I'd like. It's not much worse than my GPS (which makes sense in light of that obviously being the largest power consumer in this device) but it would be convenient if I didn't need to change them every few uses. Second, the proper operation of the internal electronics necessitate that it not be used near substantial masses of metal (i.e. - it won't work standing next to a car). I just started doing astronomy about 3 months ago so the narration it offers was especially interesting to me. I'm planning on taking it on our family's next camping trip and plugging amplified speakers into it so everyone can listen and enjoy.

| Thanks Ken. Nice to hear that you are pleased with its performance. I think I'll pick one up in the next couple of days, see how I like it, and then make a decision on the laser attachment.
