Default Orion autoguider as a lunar camera??

Hello all,
The Orion Starshoot Autoguider that sells for $279 has the following specs. 1280x1024 pixels, b&w and no IR filter, 15 fps at full resolution. This should make a great lunar camera. However, the manual makes no mention of using it in this mode so their software does not support it. I requested that Orion tech help download Craterlet (stark labs) and see if the software (which is free) will recognize the camera. It recognizes many different drivers. Orion would not help. Does anybody have one of these cameras? If so have they tried downloading Craterlet and seeing if it will recognize the driver. If it does, this would be a fine lunar camera and an autoguider and I would want one. Craterlet will either see the camera and display an image or it won't know that it exists. It can be downloaded at Downloads
I sure would appreciate an answer to this question if anybody can help me.

John

Hi John,

I don't have one of these, but another great program would be Virtual Dub...it seems to work with about every web style cam.

I just wish I had one to try out. Orion says there technicians cannot download 3rd party software so they cannot tell me if it works. You would think they would want to sell one. I think I have found another solution. I am looking for a camera that I can take photos in the IR. One can get nice lunar photos during daylight using that. There are some Chinese noname cameras with IR leds that claim to work both day and night, claim 30fps and have resolution up to 2048x 14??. I bought 3 different models (they were less than $10 on ebay.) If any one of them works decently I will have a solution.

John
