Default PWT Monolith LT Portable Piers

What makes our piers light years ahead of the competition?

We think of our piers more than just a stand. We designed and manufacture them to be a super solid platform for your valuable and high quality equipment. We were the first manufacturer to fully engineer our piers then 100% machine them from the highest strength aluminum and stainless steel alloys - not fabricate them from welded tubing or pre-formed extrusions (profiles also know as T-slots). We were the first manufacturer to place as much importance on the aesthetics and the fit and finish as the rigidity and performance. We were the first to offer a host of features never before incorporated in piers (variable height portable pier, full index adapter, advance leveling, fine height adjustment build-in the shoes for critical polar alignment and many more). We were the first to offer both anodized and powder coated finishes in various colors and combinations. We set the standard, others try to follow.

Compare our piers and you will realize there is really only one choice if you would like the best, not to mention the most for your money

We are now accepting orders for our new Monolith LT piers. Two sizes are available – 7” and 10”. The 7” and the 10” models are available in both fixed and variable height models. The variable height models are available in fully manual adjustment; hand operated variable height, and fully motorized electrical version (push button and software control). The first to be available is the 7” version. We have already sold out of our first production and are accepting orders for the second production due to ship early March. The specs for the 7” version are as follow:

- Fully engineered for maximum rigidity, lightness, dampening time and ease of use
- 100% CNC machined from 6061, 7075 aluminum alloys and 416 and 17-4 stainless steel
- Pier diameter 8.6” with the legs closed
- Foot radius/base 48” with the legs fully spread
- Variable spread legs
- Fully supported legs
- Weight for 31” fixed height 18 pounds, 36” and 42” -19 and 21 pounds respectively, manual variable height 23 pounds, motorized variable height 29 pounds
- Minimum height with legs floded 38”
- Fixed models available in various heights.
- Variable models available with 17” of height adjustment with maximum height of 48” (super fast adjustment without removing a number of knobs)
- Fully guided center column maintains polar alignment
- Advance leveling capability
- Full index adapter
- Articulating feet
- Adjustable carry handle
- Corrosion resistant with operating temp of -40 – +280 F
- 99% maintenance free
- Available in anodized or powder coated finish
- Available in various colors and color schemes
- Super fast setup and take down
- Self contained, nothing to loose or leave behind
- A number of accessories available to customize to your needs
- Gorgeous, super quality fit and finish
- Suitable and adaptable to small and medium mounts
- Made and hand assembled in USA

Please note the pictures below in particular the second picture with HGM-200. Thought the 7” version is not designed for such a large and heavy mount, it can still easily handle the load for not only visual use but CCD imaging as well. The HGM-200 pictured was used for our testing using a C11 (total weight of over 160 pounds). With an 11mm Nagler (255X magnification), the image dampens in a little over 2 second when a strong impact is introduced to the telescope. The Astro-physics Mach1 carrying a custom 8” f4 Newtonian with the same 11mm Nagler dampens in 1 second. Up to now, this level of performance could only be achieved from a larger and much heavier pier.

HI PWT,

I like the looks of your new pier. It certainly looks a lot like the original Monolith. I don't see any order or delivery dates. The other thread from last month states that some might be available the end of January. Is this still the case?

Rick.

Hello Rick,

I am glad to hear you like the new Monolith LT. It is based on the original Monolith so you can expect excellent quality and performance from the LT model.

The first production of the smaller 7" is already sold out. The first production will be ready for shipping by first week of Feburary give or take a couple of days. The next production will be available for shipping in late February. The 10" version will be available late February or early March.

I have put up a quick page on our website which includes more information and ship dates.

Thank you,

Shahin Zarehparvar

I have to say PWT you make some of the nicest products for the astronomy market that I have ever seen! Theres nothing quite like a fully machined precision crafted part. Its nice to see that companies like yours exist that are more interested in quality than in how many you can sell in the shortest period of time.

Thank you for your very kind comments. I enjoy looking at my astro gear as much as through it, so I try to make my products to same level of quality and aesthetics as my equipment. I was/am an armature astronomer first and as such I will never scarify quality for the sack of profit.

Thank you again,

Actually, this is a perfect (and rather amusing) example of the limitations of spell checker! Since armature, scarify and sack are all perfectly spelt words, albeit out of context, spellchecker wouldn't have caught them.
By the way, I hope Shahin doesn't take offence at this message as I am about to order one of his beautiful looking DD caps for my TV-85!

Simon

P.S. According to the Oxford English Dictionary;
Armature.....part of an electric motor
Scarify........loosen soil
Sack...........a large bag

Shaine, do you have any updates on the delivery of the Monolith LT? Have you started to deliver any of these piers yet?

The reason I ask is because I have had some other products on order through a dealer and it has been delayed and delayed with no explinations given. I hope the same thing does not happen with your new pier.

I think that you make a great product but you really need to work on your delivery and empty promises that you make to your customers.

Frank, I have known Shahin for quite some time and he delivers his products as soon as he is physically able to. There are things that are outside of his control and when you are dealing with precision machined parts and the fact that he has to rely on others to do the machining, delays are inevitable.

Having said this we currently have several of his Monolith LT piers on order so as soon as we receive them, I will post some pictures.
