Default North America Nebula (emission line)

Hi
Trying to make the most of the clear nights, no clouds last night so was able to do
6x10 min Ha
8x10 min OIII
8x10 min SII
all unguided with the TMB 115 on the Paramount and the Starlight Xpress H36
Processed SII (red) Ha (green) and OIII (blue)
Less noisy than my earlier efforts but still want to try for more longer subframes, Very pleased with the field flattener and filter wheel
Thanks for looking
Regards
Gordon

Very crisp result, Gordon. Good start.

As you can tell, narrowband color can be difficult <g>.

Were you able to take and apply "flats" to this image?

Regards...Neil

Hi Neil
I haven't started using flats or proper dark frames yet, I am just using simple auto dark subtraction in Maxim DL and although it is not ideal it makes it easier for me to make more use of what little time I have to image what with work and weather. My next plans for this year are first of all to take some proper dark frames and possibly build a library of them and then to try my hand at the dark art of flat field frames, after discussing the issue with Richard Crisp I realise it essential for successful emission line imaging, then when the nights get longer again I will try setting up the auto guider but until then it is still using the Paramount out of the box so to speak. I really appreciate all the tips and advice from yourself and everybody else and I will be putting these into action later in the year
Best wishes
Gordon
