Hi Ken,

I saw this post awhile ago, but couldn't see the results. Do you have an example of what the additional data looked like? Quite often you'll have a night that, for some reason, just doesn't work out. But, usually I've found that this data can still be used to remove noise in the outer areas.
Your original image is really quite nice...the main thing that I saw was the noise in the outer areas and I had to work abit to remove that. I'd guess that the extra 1.5hours of information should help with this.

You betcha.

I've posted the following four zip files:

The original .tif that you worked on before. That image contains 48 minutes of exposure adjusted with 92 darks.
www.astrobeginner.com/images/m42/KCM-M42-48Min.zip

A .tif of 64 minutes of exposures from two nights later using 29 darks.
www.astrobeginner.com/images/m42/KCM-M42-64Min.zip

A .tif that is a min/max excl. average of all the dark adjusted lights from above - 122 minutes of lights.
www.astrobeginner.com/images/m42/KCM-M42-112Min.zip

Plus, just for yucks, a .tif of all lights (122 mins.) min/max excl. averaged with all darks (121 of 'em) - i.e. all darks were thrown together and equally applied to all lights. The temperatures were about the same both nights so I figured what the heck.
www.astrobeginner.com/images/m42/CombineFilesExcAvg.zip

To me, it looks like the last one turned out best.

That's peculiar. I tested each when I posted them and also just now.

Ken, It'll start a download...get about 2meg into and then freeze....When I then go back to try again it gives me a broken server message. I tried all three of the new links.

You're not on dial-up are you?

I modified the links and had someone else try them and they work for them too.

Maybe try again?

Ken, I don't know what to say.....I have 3mp cable...very fast.
I tried the same thing in my office...another fast computer, and the same thing. It gets to 2 to 4meg and then just stops......then refuses to let me try again.
It may be something with my cable company, but I am able to visit other sites as normal, and I tried downloading a few things from my site.

Try these URLs. I copied them to a different server hosted by a different company:

Hi Ken,

It's not you, it's either my machines or Charter cable. I tried these and no go...So I went to Jim Misti's site because he has some really large files....and I can get to 8 or 9mb before it stops.
I've never had the problem before so I'll take a look after Church today.

Sorry to cause so much trouble.
