That's great! Nothing is better than his helping hand and able to see his glory.

I have just had the busiest of weekends inside the dome. Constructed a reinforced pier of thick chipboard and re-enforcing steel frame inside, Welded it to the bolts hanging out of the cubic metre of subterranean cement I have there. Then I mixed concrete bucket by bucket to fill up a 7 foot tall by one foot square pillar from the top. That had set by this morning so then I painted the entire contents of the dome and its furnishings, dressed off the hole in the floor with a spaced skirt around the pier, mounted a top plate to the pier and installed the wedge. Shoveled the remaining half a cubic metre of gravel mix off the truck at my neighbors place. Cleaned up all tools, washed the truck and vaccumed the observatory.

Then settled down to eat a cold dinner and the last two inches of flat warm beer in the longneck sitting beside my PC from last night.

I'm Knackered. Going back to work tomorrow for a rest.

Baz.

Nicely put, Jim, very nice indeed! I don't quibble with those who don't see it that way, but I sure can't figure them out, either. They are missing so much!

Well, Bro', we can all relate to your sense of accomplishment. And, many of us entertain some envy of your youthful vigor. But, somehow two inches of an old beer does not seem fitting reward for your efforts. I suggest you remedy that shortsight...lol

Good on ya' mate!

Bob

You are absolutely right Bob! I am still thirsting for a pale lager now at 1:56AM. Yes, I'm a night owl. Who needs speed or other drugs? God gives me plenty of energy. We'll see in the morning at 6......

Might just have to stop at the bottlo on the way home tomorrow for a cold one.

Jesus love ya mate!

Baz.

P.S. Hear hear Jim!

For those who don't know, Ron, (Tailwag) Is an absolute LEGEND and may God bless him and all the good he does!

He has TOTALLY blown me away with his services (VERY reasonable I might add) and given my website a complete makeover. He's been up all night, worked like a slave all day and going well into tonight too I believe!

So now, Barry's home-made observatory is NOT AT the old address I posted anymore. It is now on Ron's server. Have a quick look at it. It looks awesome! Thanks soooooo much Ron!

If you would like to contribute to Ron's cause and enlist his services, check him out on the http://www.aussiepeople.com.au front page.

Also, NOW The Observatory is done! Ron and I will update the site with the finished pics and explanations soon, but in the meantime, go to photo bucket http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q184/bloodhound31/ to have a look. Here's a sample.

As requested Bob, the pics of the inside are now all there.

Barry's home-made observatory is now completed and FULLY OPERATIONAL!!!!! yay! It has been one complete year in the making. It certainly doesn't feel like it!

I have also had a professional re-design on the website, so now it looks better and is NOT located at the old barry's home-made observatory (iinet.net) link. It has been re-named A.S.I.G.N Observatory. See the new link below. Please take a look and enjoy.

I have big ideas for more astronomy related projects and development of the site so please stay tuned!

God bless,

Barry.

Congratulations, Barry! The photo series is very good, and your ob is just smashing! You gotta be one "happy camper". Are you planning to image or just go with visual?

Bob, I never want to lose sight of just observing. My ultimate aim is to draw people nearer to God through astronomy.

Physically, I would like to go ccd or live imaging then fully automate dome and scope to be controlled via the internet then people can book time with the scope from the comfort of their desk and use it for study/research.

Just an idea at this stage but it can easily be done.
