Broke the third crank mechanism! The dome is just too heavy! I wore out two round holes for a crank handle into oblong holes in just a few complete rotations. Two 1/2 inch holes through mild steel rhs turned into 1/2 inch by 1 inch oblongs.

So now i have built a SUPER CRANK MECHANISM out of two 25mm roller bearings side by side. I'll be getting Ron to put it on the site for me, on the support ring page.

Until then, heres a pic.

Hi Bob , it's Ron here (Tailwag), just joined this fantastic forum and wanted to say thank you for your kind words regarding Barry's website. I can tell you that we knocked it up fairly quickly from where it used to be housed and between myself and Barry we have dozen's of ideas planed for new and improved areas on the site.

If you have any ideas or feedback (good or bad) just let either Barry or myself know and we will do our best to take all reasonable suggestions into account.

Hello Ron, and welcome to AstroClassifieds!

I looked over your website, and you do very fine work. It is good to know the AC family has a source of quality websites from a member. Do put up more personal information on your profile page when you have a chance, and we can get to know you.

Feel free to jump in with questions, and replies in the forums. We have a comparatively small but very astute membership. Thanks for bringing your expertise into the mix.

Cheers, and Clear Dark Skies!

Bob

Barry,

Dunno if you have it whipped this time or not. Wish I was an injeneer and could offer a "fix" for your situation. But, I bet there are minds on AC which can help. If you still need input, I suggest you start a new thread on this forum titled "Help! Dome Rotation Problem!" and see what it brings. 'Course the real problem may be that you Ossies are upside down, and everything is back-to-front as we Yanks see it .

Cheers, and CDS!

Bob

Great shot, Baz, especially with Orion smilin' down on your efforts! You deserve to be proud. Be sure and get Ron to post it on your website.

Cheers, and CDS!
