I was checking out their new 7" Mak. I know that it is probably Chinease made though as is most of the Orion line.

Yes, I believe they all are made in China, probably by Synta since they recently bought both Orion and Celestron.
I have always found their optics to be of very good quality, especially at Orion which seems to do a better job of quality control than some of the other Dealers.

I thought Orion was just bought by a group of East coast investors? Lou Dobbs of CNN was one of the investors. Of course that was about 9 months or so back. Did the east coast group sell out? Mike Traub

Does anyone have the details of this transaction?
I know that the deal included Imaginova which brought along Synta, Celestron, Orion and others probably.
The impression that I got was that Celestron and Orion was purchased by Synta under the Imaginova Umbrella.
I have no idea who the people involved are.
