Default The New Baby

At my age, a baby is the last thing I need, LOL.
This arrived yesterday however, and largely due thanks to Brian.
A quick rumage around revealed I may be able to reach focus with the ST8/CFW8A, and I gathered a few photons as well, before the clouds shut the show down.
It is weird having such a small, and compact unit, the camera looks way over the top in size and weight, and it is.
If the images from last night are any good, I will shuffle them to the DSO department.
Roll on some clear, and cooler weather.
Gary

It was my pleasure to help Gary!! The scope looks awesome on your mount! The Takahashi orange is actually starting to grow on me now!

BTW which dovetail plate are you using on your E-130? I can not tell from the picture.

Thanks team.
The scope came with a Tak, "off to one side" plate, one that allows the scope proper to slide sideways, and balance the guidescope that also mounts to one side. Hard to explain. It bolts directly to the EM200, which is a pain, as it means your new saddle is sitting unused. I plan on rectifying this though, as the idea is to use the mount with other scopes, and at present that is an allen key procedure. The biggest snag is the rings have mount holes that are all but as wide as the D series dovetail. I will get around it, but..........
The ST8/CFW8A just comes to focus, but at present I can't get the DSLR (20D) to focus. I need a different adaptor.
Last night was thwarted with high cloud, and then total cloud/rain. Soon people, soon.

One idea for you Gary would be to use our Tak-02dp dovetail plate. This plate has pre-machined holes of the proper size and spacings to accomodate your Takahashi rings. I have attached a picture of it so you can see what I mean.

Congratulations! The Epsilon is an absolutely superb astrograph. On that mount you have a fantastic imaging platform.

OK Brian,
I'll give that some thought. I am sorted for the moment, but eventually I will want it to be tidier. Maybe if I need an adaptor sent out, I will do the both at once?

No worries Gary.. We just received a new shipment of dovetail plates so we have them available from stock.

I have a call into TNR about your adapter so I will know something for you by tomorrow at the latest.

Did you go flying today?? You should post some of your helicopter pictures here!! Absolutely gorgeous scenery!!
