Monolith Feet

I used my new Monolith pier for the first time last night and am elated. I can't say enough good things about it.

I am wondering if there are any feet available that have a rough surface, as opposed to the smooth bottomed feet.

My drive is asphalt and the smooth feet tend to slide.

Hi Ken,

Glad to hear you are using your Monolith and that you are happy with it. The flat pad on the feet are sort of universal footing, since they work on most surfaces. I suggest trying it for a couple of nights and if you find you need more traction, then I can discuss it in more detail with you and machine something that suites your need better.

I fixed the problem by picking up some 3M anti-slip tape at the local hardware store and affixing it to the feet.

Works great!

It might be interesting to have some "checkered" feet - at maybe 20 lines per inch - like the front strap on the pistol frame in the attached picture.

The little points in the metal would then "dig" into the asphalt.

That is great Ken. Just be careful it does not introduce flexure. or compression to the feet.

The idea of checkering is very good, but since the flat pad of the feet are made from aluminum, the checkering will wear out quickly. My thought about the pad has been that it is aluminum, so it will scuff up with use and it will provide more traction/grip. One idea is to make the flat pads from stainless steel and have some pattern on the contact surface to provide more traction.

I am open to all suggestions.

That would be a great idea Shahin. Have an option of stainless steel feet with the knurled type finish on the underside to grip a concrete/asphalt type surface.
