For those that have "issues" with the current version, why not go back to version 2.0? This seems to be the easiest to use and still produces outstanding results.

OH Boy, here I thought it was just my usual lack of software expertise that kept me from making it work for me.
I read all the tutorials, joined the yahoo groups etc. etc. and still couldn't get it to work.
By comparison, does anyone have any thoughts on how well the stacking section in AA3 works ?

I just downloaded the newest version of Registax and I much prefer the old version. This new version is just way too complicated for me to work

Sometimes newer does not always mean better.

i find it unstable for myself as well-- break it in with small files, 300 frames and under it ususally doesnt throw a tantrum and crash.- clean the comp out (defrag- disk cleanup- etc) Regis likes to walk into a spic'n'span enviormnent- close EVERYTHING you got open, regis runs better alone-- install and reinstall if you have crash issues- and finally - DO NOT keep a sledge hammer near the computer when operating this program- LOL

Hi guys was just reading up on what you have to say about Registax, I have the same problem! What kind of images do you use to start? Will jpg's work or just bpm's and how big should the image be to work successfully? I can't seem to get it to work either. Just hopeing some one can point me in the right direction.

Hello Kent.. Generally speaking Registax is used to take webcam streaming video (.avi) and use this file to stack the frames that make up this file. After is finished processing the .avi it will output a file (picture) as a .bmp or .jpg along with a few others.

I am not sure if Registax would process or stack .jpg as most people do not use the program this way.

When I use the program, I limit myself to a maximum frame count of about 1000-1200. This usually equates to about 1 minute of imaging with the Toucam. I have found that if I image any longer than this or have more frames, Registax will crash so this is the reason I keep my frame count between 1000-1200.

Besides, if I can't get a decent image with those many frames stacking, even discarding frames that are not 75 percent I might as well call it a night!!

Thanks Brian for the answer. I've tried to use avi off my Canon Powershot 520 but I read somewhere that if you have your sound recorded that this will mess up the stacking process? And I can't seem to turn it off, never seen anything about it the manual.

Sorry for all the questions but, I just took a 14.6 sec avi. and tried to stack it. To no success. When I pushed the button to stack the message;
"failed to start avi decompression"
came up. Is this because of the sound issue?

Hello again... The only camera that I have personally used with Registax processing is a Philips Tou cam. I would think that a .avi file would be the same though for any camera.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable about computers will chime in here and comment if there are differences in .avi files.

I do not think the sound issue has any bearing as the Philips camera has sound as well and Registax still works perfectly, even when the sound is enabled.
