Like I mentioned before I have had much better luck with version 2 than with the latest software that is currently on their website.

Don't give up!! There has to be something that your Canon is outputting that Registax does not like. When you try to open the .avi file with version 2 does it give you the same error as version 4?

Right on Brian, I got it working using Virtualdub to eliminating the sound. So now it is stacking but I don't seem to be doing it right. It appears to be stacking all the images, not sorting out the good ones just stacking them all. I'm using version 2. Is their a tutorial that I can read somewhere that will help me over come my Registax curse.
Thanks again Brian for all of your help!!

Good going Kent!! I knew you could do it...

If you are using ver 4 of Registax, look at the front page and you will see a setting called "Quality Estimator" Set this to 85 percent and then run the program. This should "weed" out the crappy frames and start to stack the nicest ones in the .avi file.

Let us know how this works out for you.

I am guessing the question may be "how much memory do you have?". The AVI files are huge. The memory would be core and how much swap space is allocated on the harddrive, not the hard drive storage space. I used to have trouble with it when I would go to large in # of frames or by expanding the size of each frame. I would think it is running short of memory to deal with the file and file manipulation and program size needed.
