| If I select the automatic processing option in RegiStax it most often successfully runs to completion (assuming I don't try using too many images). However, if I try to manually process images I am unable to get through the process without the applications "locking up" or generating one of several errors. I've read the manual and have enough of an understanding of the options that I don't beleive I'm doing anything "illegal." Also, I've tried dozens of different combinations of options. The only difference that seems to make is whether it blows up sooner or later in the process! I've now tried this on 4 different machines and each yields the same type of unpredictable results - well, I guess "unpredictable" is a bit of a misnomer since I can reliably predict it won't work - so let me change that to undesirable results. Is this type of problem common with RegiStax (when using other than full auto processing)? If it makes any difference, I'm using V4.0.

| I can only comment on using the "auto" processing and it seems that as long as you do not go over 1300-1400 frames the program works fine. I have not used any manual settings but gosh why would you want to? I just set the quality of the image that I am looking for and let Registax sort out the good from the bad. Then it automatically aligns and stacks the image and then I can save it as a .jpg or other file format. Quote:

| Next thing you'll suggest is that we all drive cars with automatic transmissions! If there are knobs and buttons, I have to fiddle with them.

| I have used Registax for a few years now and it has always worked great for me. I only used the auto settings though and never even tried to manually process so many images. Frank \ Quote:

| RegiStax has worked great for me too. I have used this program to stack over 1000 seperate frames of Saturn and the image actually looks half decent. I have only used the auto modes as well and have not messed with the manual settings as I am not that advanced and would probably mess something up. John |

| It's funny that you mention this. I still thing that Version 2 of Registax was the easiest one to use of all of their versions offered. The newest version has a lot more features but the user interface of the program is NOT intuitive IMO.

I passed Registax along to a good friend of mine who is a world-renowned GUI usability specialist. He now uses it in his lectures as the best example of the worst Windows user interface he has ever seen.

| Yes it is just awful, and not a stable app either. You can't swing a dead cat without popup errors one after another. It is kind of hard to complain about free software, but if you have ANY other option skip RegiStax. Zathris.... |
