| I'm a registered user of WCS but havent' got my money's worth yet. Even though it is supposed to automatically calibrate for the camera angle, each time I use it the star just seems to shoot off the screen. It's wierd - when calibrating the software, I can move the star left & right just like you're instructed to do. However, when I go to the 'adjustment' phase of the program, and start moving the mount, the star shoots vertically instead of left to right as it's supposed to. Each time I have tried, it frustrated me so much that I just continued on with a drift alignemnt instead. |

| With the scope pointed to the south star high in the sky, adjust the side to side, east or west star adjust the height. First u must be close to alignment in order to use wcs. Instead of doing a calibrating for the cam, do what i did, just orient the cam so that when u press R.A. motor the star stays on the horizontal line all the way across the screen then see if it drifts up or down, ignore any movements east to west, adjust the mount accordingly. Then when u do ur second star alignment, orient the cam the same way again so that the star stays on the horizontal line, then check for up or down drift and adjust the mount accordingly. If i recall correctly, when i did my east-west star, the star would move up or down when i did my height adjustment also. Last edited by Edsport; 10-16-2007 at 07:00 PM. |
