Default Re: Maxim DL & The Sky

Yep. You'll want to work the goto with TheSky, and guiding and centering with MaxIM.

Instead of connecting MaxIM directly to your mount, just connect TheSky to the mount, and MaxIM to "TheSky Controlled Telescope". MaxIM will pass commands right through to the mount that way.

Hi Neil,
darn, why didn't I think of that, I'll try it tonight.
Having said that, Maxim does s decent goto job as well, albeit without pictures etc.
Thanks again
Gary

Default Maxim DL & The Sky

Hi All,
in a similar vien to the thread on auto-guiding (not wanting to hijack that one), I have a question about the two programs.
I use and love Maxim DL for image capture, and more lately, auto-guiding. Prior to having a dual chip CCD I used maxim for capture, and the likes of K3 for auto-guiding. Now all is done within Maxim DL, and I have even ventured into the goto aspect with Maxim, using the Telescope Control section.
My question is this. If I am using the likes of The Sky to align and work the goto, (Tak EM200 Temma) can I also use Maxim at the same time? (for centring etc).
Up until now any time I try to "connect" with maxim, I get a port conflict message, and I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that the port only works with one program at a time, is this correct?
Thanks
